SPECIAL EVENTS
Throughout the year, Launa's Little Library holds Special Events that allow the library families to come together to celebrate the Library and enjoy a spirit of community. Please go to the "Latest News" page to read about this year's upcoming Special Events.

Memorial Day "Things-On-Wheels" ParadeHere comes the Parade!
For the past several years, the Library has celebrated Memorial Day morning with a Memorial Day Parade. Everyone is invited to decorate their "things on wheels," and parade up and down Mrs. K.'s block on Spring Branch, ending in front of the Library for donut holes and juice.  All the kids get balloons and stickers, and the crowds just grow larger every year!

Teddy Bear PicnicMrs. K. and all the Teddy Bears
The Teddy Bear Picnic is a fun and happy time in mid-July, and much more comfortable since we started holding it indoors!  The festivities include a bring-your-own picnic lunch, the traditional Teddy Bear March, a Teddy Bear awards presentation, and to round things out, a story time with Mrs. K.  For the past two years, we have added a bake sale -- a delicious addition to the festivities, with all proceeds going to the Library.

Pajama PartiesSinging along with Mrs. K.
Everyone looks forward to the Pajama Parties, which are evening story times with bedtime books and songs, held on selected Friday evenings in August. All the children come in their pajamas, and it's the perfect way to finish off a late summer evening. This is a good event for bringing along your daddies or grandparents, since there's usually a lot of cuddling and snuggling.

Big Birthday Bash & Fund-Raising EventSelling tickets at the Big Birthday Bash

This is our main Fund-Raising effort and our biggest event of the year. It's a carnival-like atmosphere with supper on the grounds, a cake walk, face-painting, a bounce house -- the works!  Everyone joins in to make this a wonderful celebration, and an incredible show of love and support for Mrs. K.  You won't want to miss this one!  Click here for a report on last year's event.

Christmas PartyStory time at the Christmas Party
Each year right before Christmas, Mrs. K. hosts an Open House for all the Library families.  A happy time in her cozy holiday-decorated home, this event offers yummy holiday treats, puzzles and games, carol singing, story time, and a warm spirit of community.  Here's a Christmas party where even the youngest little ones are welcome. Come celebrate the holidays with us at our annual Christmas Party Open House!

Summer Reading ClubThere are 4,818 stones, representing 4,818 books read!

The Summer Reading Club is our way to motivate the children to keep reading throughout the summer months.  Every year, a new and exciting theme offers incentives and prizes for those who complete their reading charts.
Last year, our summer reading club broke all records, as 320 young readers designed their own Coats-of-Arms, earned castle stones for each book read, and completed our huge "Castle in the Sky" mural.  When each child finished reading 20 books, they were knighted or crowned with a special ceremony, and became members of the Royal Court!
