Launa's Little Library
Without the help of the volunteers at Launa's Little Library, we could not keep up with the daily workflow. Volunteers do most of the check-in and inspection of returned books, and also help with shelving, book processing, and other projects that are needed. It would be great to have two or three volunteers signed up for a few hours each library day!
But we are aware that almost by definition, many parents who bring their children to Launa's Little Library do not have the time or energy to volunteer regularly -- they are extremely busy with the important job of raising their babies and toddlers! But those whose children are in preschool or beyond may have time to spare and be looking for things to do. Volunteering at Launa's Little Library could be the perfect fit! And we've discovered that there are also grandparents and other interested adults who make excellent volunteers!
HOW TO VOLUNTEER
Most volunteer work is done during library hours (Tues, Wed, Thurs 10:30am - 5:30pm).
You may choose to volunteer one or more days a week or month, and any number of hours you wish. Just add your name to the Volunteer Sign-Up Sheets that are posted in the Library, or contact Mrs. K., 214-348-4384, and let her know when you would be able to help out.
We occasionally send library work home with those who cannot help out during regular library hours. If you have free time in the evenings or on the weekends, this arrangement may work better for you. Ask Mrs. K. for more information about take-home volunteer work.
If you have never helped at the library before, you will be asked to attend a 15-20 minute training session, which will be set up sometime before your first volunteer session.
Please consider joining the team of wonderful volunteers that give back to the library in the form of time -- we are so grateful for them! Without their help, the workload of Launa's Little Library would become a huge burden for Mrs. K.
